Sal Romano, One of the Wealthiest Gangsters in US History, to Publish Memoirs

Salvatore "Sal the Pizza Guy" Romano, the Gambino crime family's operative on Wall Street, has signed with Silicon Valley-based Fuse Literary Agency for representation as he prepares to publish his autobiographical memoir.

Sal Romano and Paul Anka, in the old days....

Romano made millions of dollars for the Gambinos by way of stock fraud, first serving under the late John "Johnny G." Gammarano and later becoming a top earner for Michael "Mikey Scars" DiLeonardo, a capo in the Gambino crime family and who was at one time considered a possible successor to John Gotti as boss of the family.

In 2003, after living the good life on ill-gotten gains, Mr. Romano, arguably one of the wealthiest gangsters in American mob history, was indicted in a nearly $100 million stock scam. Betrayed by the disloyalty of those he had always believed were his "family", and faced with both State and Federal charges, Mr. Romano decided to cooperate and become a government informant in exchange for admittance into the U.S. Witness Protection Program.

"People were always telling me I should write a book," says Mr. Romano. "I've lost count how many times people have said this to me over the years. They would usually say this after hearing me share just a few stories about my life. I would always say to myself, 'If you only knew the whole story!' Well, now they will. I had plenty of time to write my memoirs while in solitary confinement for a year".

In addition to being autobiographical, Mr. Romano's memoir also describes in great detail how the Mafia took control of the NASDAQ small cap stock market during the Internet boom of the late 1990s, as well as rivetingly details the beginning of the end of the Gotti family's control of the Gambino crime family.

Fuse Literary is a full-service, hybrid literary agency based in Silicon Valley with offices in New York, Chicago, Dallas, North Dakota, and Vancouver. The agency manages a wide variety of clients, from bestsellers to debut authors, working with fiction and non-fiction for children and adults worldwide.

"I'm thrilled to be working with Sal on his memoir", said Gordon Warnock, founding partner at Fuse Literary. "My favorite stories are of people who were thrust into uniquely extreme circumstances and somehow made it out to find redemption and a greater truth, a greater understanding of what it means to be human. Sal's book provides that in spades. I can't wait for everyone to read it".

"It has been an honor to help Sal to tell his story", said Geoffrey Lopes da Silva, Mr. Romano's co-author. "It takes some pretty unexpected twists and turns that you don't see coming. It's definitely not your average run-of-the-mill mob story. The ending will surprise everyone. It is my hope that his story will be an inspiration to all who read it".

Sal "the Pizza Guy" Romano has been featured in various media articles including the New York Times, USA Today, the New York Daily News, the New York Post, and in blogs like Jerry Capeci's GangLandNews.com and CosaNostraNews.com. Mr. Romano and members of his family also recently appeared in the documentary series Mafia Women with Trevor McDonald, which aired on the ITV network in the United Kingdom earlier this year.
