Mikie Scars Speaks....

In what we consider to be our most important contribution to the history of the American Cosa Nostra, we interviewed Michael "Mikie Scars" DiLeonardo about life in the Five Families -- specifically, the Gambino crime family when it was helmed by one of the most famous mob bosses of the 20th century, John Gotti.

Mikie Scars provided some interesting details about pre-Cosa Nostra history in America, too.

You will learn things you never knew or imagined about the Gambino crime family during the Gotti reign. (Such as Michael actually spells his name "Mikie"....)

Michael "Mikie Scars" DiLeonardo was a Gambino capo, close to Junior Gotti since before they were inducted in a Christmas Eve 1988 ceremony. The relationship carried on for decades until DiLeonardo was arrested.

Except for his turn on Trevor McDonald's ITV two-part Mafia documentary, he has never spoken publicly outside of testifying, to our knowledge.

Well, he talked to Costa Nostra News and you'll want to read what he said.

  5. Off the topic. I got a friend who just left pollock medium and he was talking gene in there said gene got a visit not too long ago by a low level gambino assoc. And he decline the visit. Said he wants nothing to do with that life no more. He said more than half the shit in books about him and his bro john are BS. He is real cool and talk to all the ABT guys in there supposedly.

  9. I don't know the man so can't comment, but I know what others who know him have said about him. I'm really interested in his era as head of the Gambinos - did the Genovese and other families really stop doing business with him? Did the Gambinos themselves stop kicking up? At what point did he become acting boss just in name? Interesting period, I think.

  10. I get where you're coming from. Personally I'm interested in how they've gone on and not been clipped. In my opinion (and I suspect others) I believe that the gotti's where the worst thing to happen to the mob.

  15. Always found Scars to be very truthful. I read his testimony online and it was fascinating. I however, don't think tha'ts a good idea because all the Haters wiould then come out as well as the assholes. Maybe more interviews and getting his take on Mob events would be a good idea Ed. You really landed a big fish with Scars Ed. Kudos to you!

  24. Best interview so far Ed and you've had some great ones. Always found Mikie to be very credible. I don't know how many times I have read his testimony. I always found it fascinating and infornative. He should seriously consider writing his book, I know I would buy it. The Gambinos downfall was screwing him. I wish you well Michael!

  25. Is this you Pizzaboy? A person can tell by the writing style and the racial slurs, you bring up Mexicans a lot....

  26. Michael saw your comment, asked me to say hello to you -- hopes all is well with you and your family...

    ReplyDelete
  27. I'm sorry if your family member is in prison. But I have to point out that this flipping in Atlanta makes no senses.... If Scars flipped in Atlanta, why'd he get arrested 10 months later? He could have met with every capo in the family, as well as higher ups and recorded them... They never would have pulled him off the street if he was cooperating when they did. Michael actually won the case -- he never thought he'd win it. But when you look at it, why was he involved in the first place? The crimes committed had to do with Gold Club owner Steve Kaplan who was indicted on federal racketeering charges, including credit-card fraud, prostitution, money laundering, police corruption and ties to the Gambino crime family. They needed an Italian if you ask me to "mob up" that case.

  28. He didn't go into a lot of detail (I know what you mean)..... But he did say Sliwa was supposed to be kidnapped, but one of the two kidnappers brought a gun - and in the panic he shot Sliwa more than once.... in old days, he'd have been take care of for bringing a gun in the first place....

  29. Thanks for the insight Ed....that's why I love this site!

  30. Since Michael knows who you are, I wanted to ask you what I washed Richie Tux in another story. I was curious if you had any personal stories involving the mob you could share. I know you can't name anyone.... Maybe, since "Scars" talked to us, you could tell us something about him that you can recall. I asked him to keep checking out the comments so he'll see it....

    ReplyDelete
  31. very well said, never thought of that..imagine those tapes if he did flip in atl and then come home 200 guys would have been arrested..great point ed.

    ReplyDelete
  32. lol this pizzaboy and LCN beef is making me laugh threatening and mocking each other the internet have you two even met? or is this beef just from the i internet you both claim to know each other well what i am seeing i dont know full details is two bulls**ters and wannabes
