Now Seven Colombos Are Out On Bond
Of the 20 people nabbed as part of the October 3 Colombo takedown, 11 have been released on bonds (which ranged in value from $75,000 to $1 million); seven of the 11 are part of the Colombo crime family, the Feds allege.
The following were released, as per court papers:
Joseph Amato Jr., 26, son of alleged Colombo capo Joseph Amato, is out on a $1 million bond. Amato Jr. is an alleged associate of the Colombo family, prosecutors said.
Vincent Scura, 58, also known as “Vinny Linen,” was released on a $400,000 bond. Scura is a soldier of the Colombo family.
John Cahill, 27, was released on a $75,000 bond. Prosecutors identified Cahill as a Colombo associate.
Primo Cassarino, 31, an alleged associate, was released on a $200,000 bond.
Philip Lombardo, 61, was released on a $250,000 bond and is a Colombo associate.
Anthony Silvestro, 28, or “Bugz,” was released on a $500,000 surety bond because of his clean record. He is on home detention with an ankle monitor, which he is required to pay for. He is an accused associate.
Krenar Suka, 26, an alleged Colombo associate, is currently out on a $150,000 bond.
The following also were bonded out, but NONE have reputed ties to the Colombos.
That said, the Feds accuse Dominick Riciglian, 30, of operating a “loansharking” business. He also has a sobriquet, The Lion. Still, the allegations against him do not include “affiliation” with the Colombo family, and he’s been released on a $500,000 bond.
Christopher Coffaro, 21, is out on a $75,000 bond.
John Dunn, 30, was released on a $500,000 bond.
John Tucciarone, 39, was released from jail on a $75,000 bond.
All 11 defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges, which include racketeering, extortion, loansharking, stalking, attempted sports bribery, and related offenses.
In a hearing this week, a federal judge decided to hold Daniel Capaldo, 54, an alleged Colombo soldier, and denied his request for bail.
Judge Leo Grasser denied bond for Thomas Scorcia, 52, an accused Colombo soldier.
Benjamin Bifalco, 25, will appear in court today. Bifalco is accused of trying to bribe NCAA basketball players.
(WOOPS! Bifalco was hired last month by assemblywoman and congressional candidate Nicole Malliotakis (R-East Shore / Brooklyn) as a director of community affairs. Malliotakis fired Bifalco as soon as the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Eastern District of New York filed the charges against him.)
Anthony Bosco, 26, Nicholas Bosco, 30, and Joseph Bosco, 55, whom authorities have not associated with the Colombo family, remain in custody.
