Finally "Junior" Gotti Addresses Alite

Image
Today is a day of miracles.....We Christians believe Jesus Christ rose from the dead. (Which reminds me, to all my readers (and supporters): Happy Easter! Enjoy this or whatever holiday you celebrate this time of year.) I'm absolutely flabbergasted by something I read this morning. I  John A. Gotti, aka "Junior" Gotti, the former mob boss said something of interest -- finally. He discussed associates, sitdowns and Mafia protocol.

Why Earlier Versions of Gotti Biopic Failed

Image
From New York magazine's We’re Going to Take Over F---ing Hollywood                Illustration by Ward Sutton It was announced last September that the John Travolta Gotti biopic , which twice previously had collapsed, was back in production. Gangsters Inc. ran a story on December 3 of last year: Gotti movie starring John Travolta begins shooting in March . The lede reads:  It’s official: The new Gotti movie Shadow of My Father will begin filming in March of 2016. Director Kevin Connolly shared a photo of the script on social media and the official Twitter page of the film posted the release date along with it. But that was then. As has happened, now three times, the picture appears to be on hold. It hasn't begun filming. And the New York Post's Page Six reported that John Travolta’s publicist said that Travolta was still in negotiations for the role.... "Once negotiations are finalized, we will have a start date fo...

Junior Lends Film His Father's Jewelry, Car

Image
John A. Gotti aka Junior is lending Travolta his father's personal items for a film about John Gotti Senior. John Gotti, former Gambino crime family boss, died in prison of cancer in 2002 at the age of 61. His son, former Gambino crime family boss John A. Gotti (aka "Junior"), says he left Cosa Nostra life in the dust many years ago. If John Junior is eyeing any kind of mob these days, it's the one based on the West Coast, aka Hollywood. High-caliber star John Travolta will play the Dapper Don in the upcoming production based on Junior's self-published book  Shadow of My Father . Junior claims he wrote the manuscript in response to the release of another book, George Anastasia's Gotti's Rules , based on the life and prodigious crimes of former Gambino enforcer John Alite .

Who Really Ran Scores Shakedown?

Image
Greg DePalma was desperate to regain his standing as a capo when he was released from prison in February 2003 after serving a 70-month sentence for racketeering. He was supposedly all washed up. He'd been caught talking on tape, which led to his conviction as well as that of John A. "Junior" Gotti in the Scores strip-club extortion case. (They copped plea deals, actually, at the last minute.) Testimony in a 1999 case related to the Scores case told a violent tale of murders by Albanian gangsters, as well as the Gambino crime family shaking down the premium strip club. Reputed Albanian mobsters (and brothers) Simon and Victor Dedaj were arrested for the 1996 shooting murders of a bouncer and waiter inside the Upper East Side strip club. The New York Post described it as a case "with enough mobsters, loansharks and topless dancers to fill a Martin Scorcese flick." In opening statements, Assistant District Attorney Dan McGillycuddy told jurors how ...

Story With a Twist: This Ex-Mob Associate DIDN'T Flip

Image
Stephen Newell  was a low-level mob associate. He was born and bred in  Bushwick , Brooklyn. From the age of 10 he lived in Queens and much later moved to Staten Island. His uncle, Saverio "Sammy" Galosso, was a member of the  Genovese crime family  under  Vincent "The Chin" Gigante . He died in 1986. Stevie Newell Stevie, earlier in his life, worked under John Gotti's son-in-law, Carmine Agnello, after Carmine became a member of the Gambino crime family. (Carmine is living somewhere in Ohio today, we've heard.) Agnello was married to Victoria Gotti at the time. Newell does not fit the cliched definition of the opportunistic street guy as is usually portrayed in movies, books and newspapers. He was arrested, held without bail and formally charged with the murder of Bruce Gotterup, who himself had been convicted by the mob of not using common sense and repeatedly disrupting the business of a Mafia-connected bar in Queens. In 1991, Gotteru...

"Now I Have a Target," Junior Gotti Says

Image
REVISED SLIGHTLY: A preview video, from John A. "Junior" Gotti's website , refers to the 302 "proffer memo" released in George Anastasia's Gotti's Rules: The Story of John Alite, Junior Gotti, and the Demise of the American Mafia (now available in the UK) as well as charges made by Gotti and his attorney previously regarding an FBI agent. Gotti is discussing the 302 in reference to a larger effort to discover who was behind an alleged "Get Gotti" campaign supposedly run by an FBI agent. Peter Lance writes about the campaign in the book's forward . This is the second preview video. In the first video  Junior discussed his reasons for writing his book, Shadow of My Father .

George Anastasia Signs "Gotti's Rules" for Public

Image
John Alite, left, George Anastasia at Free Library event last night. PhillyVoice : "George Anastasia, nationally renowned crime reporter, author and Philadelphia Inquirer writer, will make an appearance at the Free Library on Tuesday, Feb. 24. He will be reading from his new book, " Gotti's Rules: The Story of John Alite, Junior Gotti, and the Demise of the American Mafia ." "Gotti's Rules," which was released last month by Harper Collins, goes behind the scenes of New York City's Gambino crime family from the point of view of the man who betrayed them, John Alite . Alite was a hit-man who later testified against close friend Junior Gotti. "In his book, Anastasia uses FBI documentation and interviews to construct the story of John A. Gotti's rise to notoriety and how Junior later filled his big shoes.

He gets major props from us for this.

Alite: "Once Junior Went In, I Couldn't Flip Fast Enough"

Image
EXCLUSIVE We assume it's in the book, what John "Junior" Gotti revealed today. You may have read the story,  EXCLUSIVE: John (Junior) Gotti brags he lied to feds - NY Daily News : "When the mob scion sat down with federal prosecutors in 2005 to discuss crimes of fellow mobsters, he planned to give them bad information and useless leads, Gotti and his lawyer revealed in an interview with the Daily News. 'No one suffered but me,' he said of the decision." John A. "Junior" Gotti Joe "The German" Watts and Danny Marino might disagree. And some other guys who brawled in a Queens bar one evening in the 1980s may also disagree.

Why Junior Gotti Wrote "Shadow of My Father"

Image
John A. Gotti In a YouTube video posted on his website , John A. "Junior" Gotti blasted the notion that his book, Shadow of My Father , was an immediate response to Gotti's Rules: The Story of John Alite, Junior Gotti, and the Demise of the American Mafia , written by 30-year veteran journalist George Anastasia. Speaking with his lawyer, Charles Carnesi , by his side, ostensibly being interviewed by someone off camera, Gotti relayed the fact that he "actually" had written 375 pages "some four years ago," but "decided to put it on the shelf for peace of mind. To keep my family happy." "There is always that fear factor that the government would come after me again and harass me," he added. "Don't preen like a peacock, don't be like your father , just pull it back."
