Police Release Description of Suspect In Cece Luppino Murder

Image
Police have identified a suspect in last week’s shooting of Cece Luppino, 43, who was gunned down last Wednesday afternoon inside a house owned by his parents, Rocco and Helen Luppino. Cece Luppino, relation to Giacomo Luppino, was murdered in the home of his parents' last week. The Luppino name has been connected to organized crime for decades, going back to Giacomo Luppino, the Ndrangheta boss/Canadian viceroy to powerful Buffalo boss Stefano (The Undertaker) Magaddino, though Giacomo never had a successor to continue his legacy in Ontario-based organized crime. Rocco Luppino is allegedly a major player in the mob today, as per reports. Detectives have examined hours of surveillance video from the Luppino home and neighboring homes and have released a description of a suspect: A black man with an average/athletic build. At the time of the killing he was wearing a black, waist-length winter coat, black pants, black boots, a black cap, and grey shirt. Inv...

Does Musitano Hit Have Decades-Old Links to Rizzuto Alliance?

Image
Who killed Angelo Musitano yesterday, shooting him numerous times as he sat in his pickup truck in the driveway of his home? The answer might have something to do with someone shot to death 20 years ago this very month, specifically, a mob boss named Johnny Pops. The Musitanos allied with Vito Rizzuto. Angelo paid the ultimate price. That could mean the shooter worked for the same group responsible for gunning down the remnants of the Sicilian Mafia clan formerly run by Vito Rizzuto.

Onetime Montreal Boss Paolo Violi's Sicilian Sojourn

The so-called mental dullard Carmine Galante swiftly perceived Montreal's strategic importance for large-scale narcotics trafficking. First off is the Quebec province's proximity to New York, the world's premier market for anything of value, including illegal products, such as narcotics. Port of Montreal  Then there's Montreal's extensive array of port facilities, which made it the perfect platform from which to smuggle European-synthesized drugs into North America. (It was a lot easier to smuggle drugs into Montreal than into New York.) And from the Empire State, the drugs easily could be brought to cities across the continental United States. The drugs didn't necessarily have to cross the border in New York. In fact, the Mafia likely used many of the same smuggling routes used during Prohibition, which also is likely when elements of organized crime in America and Canada began forming alliances. After the January 16, 1920 passage of the Volste...

Giacomo Luppino: Last Old-Style Mafia Boss

Image
The American Mafia's Commission in 1931 decreed how Canada would be carved up. Quebec, including the key city of Montreal, fell under the purview of Joseph Bonanno; Southern Ontario, including the waterfront steel-making town of Hamilton, belonged to Bonanno's cousin, Stefano Magaddino. Don Luppino  The two feuded the rest of their lives over Canada, which had been recognized as a key platform from which to smuggle drugs into the U.S. from Europe. Carmine Galante, the mental dullard with the low IQ who is believed to have banged 90, including a renowned Italian journalist, was among the first to recognize this (for Bonanno) and was consumed with a passion to capitalize on his discovery until his brutal gangland death on Knickerbocker Ave., in 1979.  He'd begun using his connections in Canada to control the importation of drugs, primarily heroin, into America for distribution on the streets of New York and other major cities.
