Love Was the Largest Presence Not at the Reunion

Love Majewski wasn't there in body, but she was certainly there in spirit, hovering over the set like a shadow, growing and shrinking, whirling about to touch different mob wives as if tugging at their soul to gain purchase.

And she did a few times -- primarily with Karen and Ramona, and to a lesser degree, Renee. Love's dusky spirit wasn't able to get anywhere near Drita and Carla, and even Big Ang.

Some pretty basic deductions can be made about the behind the scenes machinations that led to Love being tossed out on her ass. Having finally watched the reunion late last night I was able to spend occasional idle moments at work mulling over who said what. ("Mob Wives" took the zest from my day; I stayed up so late watching it, I was exhausted at my workstation, gulping down vat after vat of espresso-laced coffee staring at the computer screen bleary-eyed, as I am doing now at my home office. I am going to slip into a coma as soon as I finish dinner.)

Glancing at the yellow legal pad on which I scratched a few pages of notes, I think I can see the rough outline of what happened among the cast.

Certain comments made by various cast members lead me to believe something like a small civil war -- not even; call it a minor verbal uprising -- broke out once Jenn announced the intent to fire Love. I believe this was done because of Carla -- perhaps she had taken out a restraining order against Love, which would've made it illegal for them to be in the same room. [Other bloggers have called this out already, I know -- I am trying to piece together my version, once and for all.]

What brought me in line to surmise there was legal activity involved was something one cast member shouted on the reunion show.

Ramona [to Carla]: You cop-caller!

I also think that maybe Karen and Ramona tried to stand up for Love, perhaps saying to Jenn something like: "Why don't you let Carla go? We'd rather have Love here than Carla!"

I also have no doubt Jenn told them, or hinted to them, that if they don't toe the line they could join Love -- off the show. One thing is certain here: There is no shortage of women to star on "Mob Wives."

What made me think this was a quick back-of-the-envelope psychological analysis of something else Ramona said.

"Love should've thought of the bigger prize, which was her job, and too many people wanted her off the show."

According to Sigmund Freud, "projection" is a psychological defense mechanism whereby one "projects" undesirable or unacceptable thoughts, motivations, desires, and feelings onto someone else.

Who else, I wonder -- she said "too many people" -- wanted Love gone...

No one really made a passionate defense of Love: perhaps this was a conscious attempt to stay on Jenn's good side, or maybe even the few who like her just don't like her that much, and would rather verbally assault Carla than defend Love, who among other things has serious psychological problems. Dr. Drew was just itching to open on her with both barrels.

Talk of Love was decidedly anti-climactic.

Dr. Drew: "[Regarding Love, it was decided that it would be] best for us to part ways." Loud applause, to which Dr. Drew replied, "Thank you." Then added: "The moment newcomer Love came into the mix trouble began to brew with everyone."

Doc, you couldn't have said it better!

Renee, at one point, outright admitted: "I didn't like [Love]."

Big Ang, ever the voice of reason, retained her crown for having the most street smarts. I believe it was Karen, again calling Carla out (and maybe trying to deflect the fact that she was the real trouble maker of the night, practically grabbing Love and Carla by the hand and dragging them into a face-to-face confrontation before melting into the roiling crowd).

Karen or one of them was chastising Carla for not handling Love with kid gloves. It was like "you know how Love is and you have to be careful when you talk to her, watch the hand gestures, etc. and so forth."

To which my hero -- I LOVE YA BIG ANG! WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT IF YOU READ THIS!!! -- said loudly and clearly without the slightest waver in her voice: "Who the f--k does Love think she is?! God?!"

Once again, Big Ang shows she's got all their numbers -- and can close their mouths for them with the merest handful of words. Big Ang, simply, is playing on a different level than everyone else on the show.

What else to say about Love? Maybe I can sum her up using a few lines I originally wrote for a now-defunct blog entry; it was actually a defense of why Love belonged on the reunion show -- but since watching it, I changed my mind and yanked that story.

Having watched the final episode, prior to the reunion, for a second time, it seemed obvious that Love had turned herself into a plot point.

She was the villain, the catalyst who brought all the other mob wives together at the end with her outrageous attack on Carla.(That camaraderie, however, didn't last!)

Some are saying Love was told to play this part; some will go so far as say that Love was "forced" to act the villain to give the girls a reason to bond together at the end of the season, without Love... C'mon. Do you really believe it is possible to force someone to act a certain way if they don't want to? (I could be making a fool of myself writing this because the truth could even be that Love dropped out of the reunion after she was fired.)

It seemed to me that Love was just being herself; she made herself the villain by arguing with other mob wives, threatening them with bodily harm, mentioning repeatedly the various ways she's assaulted the men in her life.

I believe sharp-eyed VH1 editors/producers with a natural instinct for storytelling could see how the "plot" was developing, and used it to the show's advantage to create suspense and a climactic ending -- something every story needs.

Whether Love was acting the villain or just being villainous we won't know for certain, until the series finally ends and the wives start writing their books. Then I believe we will finally learn what really happened behind the scenes.

And I still ask: what happened to the "other" new mob wife. Jenn originally announced two new people were joining the cast -- Love and someone else, but the someone else fizzled out abruptly.

Who is the other wife and how come she never appeared in season three?

NEXT UP: IT GETS PERSONAL....

RAMONA CALLS CARLA'S UNCLE A RAT WHO WAS SHOT TO DEATH, THEN HAD A CANARY STUFFED INTO HIS MOUTH. (IT ALL HAPPENED -- BUT RAMONA IS WRONG: CARLA'S UNCLE WAS NOT A RAT.

CARLA, STRIKING BACK, FINALLY VOICES TO RAMONA RIZZO WHAT IS 100% TRUE: "YOUR HUSBAND ROBBED YOUR FATHER OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS!"

AND KAREN "THE BULLSHITTER" STAYS TRUE TO FORM, TRYING TO TURN HER RAT OF A FATHER INTO A KIND OF OSKAR SCHINDLER FOR WAYWARD MAFIOSI BY CLAIMING HE SAVED CARLA'S FATHER'S LIFE. I COULD FIND NO RECORD, NO WORD, OF THAT STORY ANYWHERE, INCLUDING WITHIN THE PAGES OF SAMMY'S OWN BOOK, "UNDERBOSS."

IT IS FOR THIS REASON KAREN THINKS CARLA "SHOULD RESPECT ME."

HEY KAREN! RESPECT IS EARNED; IT IS NOT GIVEN.

Maybe I just shoulda kept my mouth shut...<<sigh>>

  1. Its very funny...I've heard lots about this Love around S.I. but never that she was wild and crazy. I'd say I heard other not so nice things. So when I watched her on the show I laughed. She was a joke! Made a fool of herself. A grown ass woman acting a fool. Ang is right who the hell is she? Is and always will be a nobody trash talker. Gotta love Ang...we go way back....;-)

  3. Karen is pushing it starting a war over street business from decades ago that not only is inaccurate but simply none of her business. Soldiers and capos must be so pissed off with this show.

    1. Karen mentioning that it was because of her family/father that Carla's uncle was spared .. She shouldn't be discussing any of that in my opinion
