Upcoming Mob Flick Features James Ciccone

By Nick Christophers

James Ciccone has come a long way in the past year with his role in HBO’s hit show The Deuce and notching a part in Marty Scorsese’s The Irishman (2019).

James Ciccone

He is an interesting actor who was once on the road to be a priest.Yet his love for acting pulled him the other way. Due to his rough upbringing and looks he has been offered gangster roles as of late. Yet he does not mind it as he believes “work is work”.

On The Deuce he has aced the part of mob boss Carmine Patriccia which has been slated for a second season. Based on his work on the HBO drama he has had guest appearances on popular TV shows like Blacklist and Gotham. Prior to these he had recurring credits for Shades of Blue and Boardwalk Empire. On the horizon is a new mob film called The Kitchen which he plays the part of Joey Goon.

In a twist, the women seek revenge for the men in The Kitchen.

The film is being released by New Line Film and directed by Andrea Berloff (Straight Out of Compton). The cast is filled with amazing talents like Melissa McCarthy, Tiffany Haddish, and Elisabeth Moss. Domhnall Gleeson, Margo Martindale, Bill Camp and Brian d’Arcy James. The plot seems a bit like the 1997 TV film Bella Mafia which starred Vanessa Redgrave, Dennis Farina, Nastassja Kinski and was directed by David Greene.

Their plot was based around the men of a Family being eliminated and the women of these men seeking revenge. In James’ new project we enter into the Irish mob which was known as The Westies. Here Andrea Berloff brings us a plot where the wives of Irish mobsters are sent on long prison sentences and they decide to run the business while their gone. It has many twist and turns with a strong cast to support it. Actually, the film’s story line was pulled from the comic book with the same title. It was released by Vertigo Comics in 2015 and was written by Ollie Masters.

Even though it may seem like familiar ground they may manage to pull it off. James is confident that the story-line and cast will definitely entertain us. He has made some amazing strides and continues to prove he is worth every role he is offered. This is evident as he is recently represented by the Buchwald Agency, one of the leading agencies in the field. Keep a look out for The Kitchen and the amazing work of James Ciccone.
