Trailer for High-Profile UK Documentary on the Mafia

Sir Trevor McDonald (considered England's Walter Cronkite) interviews a bevy of former wiseguys in an ITV documentary titled "The Mafia with Trevor McDonald."

See an excellent trailer here (we are unable to embed, so you must click the link): WATCH TRAILER

As we noted, the veteran broadcaster wants to show viewers the "reality" and not the "mythology" of the mob in the show. Trevor will look at the day-to-day lives of men within the secret crime organisation as well as undercover law enforcement figures, the Radio Times reported.

  1. If you want to see the reality over the mythology of the mob go watch Donnie Brasco, those guys sitting in that club house breaking parking meters for change and selling razors is reality, 9 out of 10 of those guys don't have a clue on how to make money, I'll definitely watch it though, even though you know what's going on it never gets tiring lol

  6. They seem to avoid the usual suspects and the British take the mob more seriously, as news, versus most of the NYC media, which sees it entertainment/filler. I've spent many hours listening to guy's war stories. It can be boring depending on the guy's talking style....

  7. I found out more about the Luchese/Muslim Philly thing in Allenwood. Joe Mecca is a nobody, hung around John Gongs. Ron Turchi, the dear departed, was the Luchese shot caller in Allenwood at the time. Also someone stole 62 books of stamps from Gene. It takes years to accumulate that many.

Other guys were involved with waking Gene up to some realities, chiefly Jimmy Calandra. He respected Gene, an older man, when Jimmy first went in. Jimmy would get his chair for him on movie night, etc. Gene started abusing Jimmy after a while so Jimmy had to stand up to him. I've known about this for a year but only now are people talking to me about Gene. This was a longtime coming.... I'm gonna let Jimmy give me the complete details though when I revisit the topic.

  9. We interviewed Stevie Newell. I ran out tonight and I'm sure he's gonna be gunning for me now... just kidding. Stevie corrected mistakes in our previous story. He didn't turn down the Ajite hit. It was planned and in motion. Two vans, one with shooters carrying Uzis. They were setting John up when the feds warned Alite about the hit. That's a separate story into itself.

He testified on Junior's behalf in his fourth trial. In another words, he tried to do what he could to save junior. How does junior repay the guy?

He calls him a rat in Shadow of My Father. Steve's made inquiries. They told him what he wanted to hear but still never changed to book (ebook and print), never provided him with info backing up junior's claim. We'll be telling the whole story tomorrow, Sunday.

  10. He says that regarding INSIDE THE LAST GREAT MAFIA EMPIRE, our facts are incorrect on the Sciascia hit. I take it to mean, we don't agree with Sal Vitali's testimony. So what? Dominick was remembering what he was told ...I never put Dom at the murder scene either. The point is, the Bronx guys know more about what's going on in the Bronxr than the guy's in the other factions. But Jerry didn't read the book. He calls it some kind of business management book or whatever by Dominick Cicale. It's nothing of the sort. I'm the author. Dom didn't even want a byline; it was my idea to give him one. I really don't care that he snubbed me. I'm not really concerned about anything he wrote in that article. The article was based on year old charges by a private investigator, based on my initial scan. I'm going to read the piece much more closely, and start digging in to previous stories he's written about Basciano. I knew I learned some interesting things regarding his coverage of Junior Gotti. But again, our ebook shot up to #10 earlier today. My traffic is higher than ever. Frankly he's just not a concern. I'll write my article she. I feel like it.

  12. First time I've even scene Mikey Scars do an interview. Speaking of which if you read his testimony that you have on your site, it totally contradicts that video of Alite tailkng to Sliwa about the 2nd time they ambushed him. When Mikey Y shot him. Read that section and then watch the video and you tell me who's telling the truth.
