Insight Into Mob Wife Drita D'Avanzo's Mindset Days Prior To Bust

On December 16, Drita D'Avanzo, one of the former stars of VH1's Mob Wives reality show, published a 2-minute-53-second video on YouTube to discuss what was on her mind.

On December 19 at around 6 p.m., in a moment that could have been tailor produced for an episode of Mob Wives, the NYPD conducted a surprise raid of the couple's home in Pleasant Plains, a neighborhood located on Staten Island, to execute a search warrant.

During that search, NYPD narcotics detectives seized guns and drugs and accouterments, specifically: two loaded guns in the bedroom and the kitchen, 120 hydrocodone/ acetaminophen pills and 22 Xanax pills in the bedroom, a sum of US currency, multiple cellular phones, two scales, and ziplock bags "used for the purpose of unlawfully packaging a narcotic drug," according to the complaint.

Police also recovered “a large quantity of marijuana” in both the basement and a kitchen cabinet, locations accessible to the couple’s youngest child, the complaint alleged.

The search warrant apparently stemmed from a drug case in New Jersey involving Lee, a reputed Bonanno associate who has been married to Drita for nearly two decades and has served two prison stints for bank robbery and now faces a pending drug charge in New Jersey. The Staten Island Advance however posits that the raid of the house at 226 Woodvale Ave. happened "after the NYPD received community tips and concerns about activities at that location, according to a source with knowledge of the investigation."

Maybe the NYPD served an old warrant out of New Jersey as a pretext to probe why they were getting lots of anonymous calls about certain suspicious activities reportedly going on around a house where a former reality star lives with her mobbed up husband and their children?

The D'Avanzos were charged with seven felonies in total, six misdemeanors and three violations, including criminal possession of a criminal substance, possession of a weapon, criminal possession of marijuana greater than 16 ounces and greater than 8 ounces, two criminal counts of possession of narcotics, and acting in a manner injurious to a child under 17—because pot was found in areas accessible to the couple's 12-year-old daughter, according to the criminal complaint.

The two were arraigned on Friday, December 20, and Drita was released on bail of $15,000. Lee was remanded into custody on a fugitive warrant stemming from the separate case in New Jersey.

Drita's world was given a vigorous shake, drugs and weapons are the takeaways ...As we noted, she shot and published a video on YouTube the Monday before the raid. It gives fascinating insight into her state of mind....

In the video, Drita tells a story. She was watching Animal Planet "and they were talking about koala bears, and I love koala bears.” The koala, as we all know, is the arboreal herbivorous marsupial native to Australia, and the only extant representative of the Phascolarctidae family. The closest living relative is the wombat.

Her love for the little marsupials was so deep, she owned stuffed koala bear dolls as a child and wanted a real one for a pet.... Her love affair with the koala continued all the way to the present, almost. She notes in a suddenly ominous tone that the affair ended "28 minutes" prior to the video.....

She notes how a picture of a cute, cuddly koala bear on social media elicited some unforgettable revelations. One poster she noticed had written: "For those who think koala bears are sweet, cuddly animals, you are in dire need of an education."

Turns out they are little incarnates of Satan, they are ferocious, miserable, evil, nasty creatures.

"They have chlamydia," the common STD, Drita reminds us

"And they piss on people... on purpose."

They pissed on Harry Styles, maybe...

For reasons Drita never conveys (and in apparent defiance of logic), a crew of four guys once went to a zoo to steal a koala bear, and the little marsupial put up the fight of its life, successfully overcoming its would-be captors. That's right: the four crooks gave up and stole another animal instead.

What is this guy talking about? What does this stuff have to do with anything???

Only this: We're going out on a limb here to say that Drita is not a hardcore criminal/drugstore cowboy walking around wearing a pistol.....

And maybe this: When you're mobbed up and selling pot, you think about hiding a couple of guns in your place. Because word gets around that you have lots of cash and drugs stuffed in the crawlspace over the closet or wherever... And next thing you know, one of your wiseguy buddies is reaching out to a guy on a crew that specializes in off-the-record robberies whispering, "Hey, this house on Staten Island...."

But then again, if you live with your wife and kids, you might wanna think about never keeping any drugs and guns in your house, especially if you know there's a warrant with your name on it somewhere in New Jersey.... Actually strike the qualifications... It's NEVER a good idea, period...
