Spinoff Law & Order: Organized Crime Debuts In April

This certainly sounds like it could be interesting, possibly....(Yes, we're hedging  our bets for now).

Christopher Peter Meloni as NYPD Detective Elliot Stabler
Christopher Meloni will reprise the role of NYPD Detective Elliot Stabler.

A spinoff of the long-running Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and the seventh series in the Law & Order franchise, Law & Order: Organized Crime will premiere on April 1, 2021, on Thursdays at 10:00 p.m. ET on NBC, right after the 9:00 p.m. time slot of Law and Order: SVU.

The spin-off will have a total of 13 episodes in the first season.

The series will star Christopher Meloni as Elliot Stabler, reprising his role from SVU. In the show, Stabler returns to the NYPD to lead the Organized Crime unit after suffering a "devastating personal loss," according to the official synopsis from NBC.

"The city and police department have changed dramatically in the decade he's been away, and he must adapt to a criminal justice system in the midst of its own moment of reckoning," the NBC synopsis says. "Stabler will aim to find absolution and rebuild his life while leading an elite new task force that is taking apart the city's most powerful crime syndicates one by one.

Also starring in Law & Order: Organized Crime are Dylan McDermott and Tamara Taylor.

There's not many details about the actual content of the series, such as whether the show's crime families will be based on New York's actual Five Families. We will update this if more information becomes available.
