DeCavalcante Redux: NJ Family a Force To Be Reckoned With
"Charlie Big Ears," boss of the DeCavalcante crime family. |
Today's DeCavalcante family is no longer viewed as a backwater -- or glorified crew -- to New York's Five Families.
Carlo "Charlie Big Ears" Majuri is the official boss; we are not naming other members of the administration.
Seven crews make up the family, which has a total of close to 80 members.
Fueled by the arrival of several full-blooded Italians and an influx of Brooklynites who moved to New Jersey during the past 15 to 20 years, the DeCavalcantes are a true force to be reckoned with.
DEVELOPING...
There is not a chance on earth they have 7 crews and 80 members , this story was on real deal and it's utter rubbish , jimmy Palermo died as did sal timpani , they were captains , louis consalvo is captain of Phil abramos crew and guiseppe sciffitti is still in prison
ReplyDeleteDom, i know nothing about the real deal. Just because its not in a book doesn't mean its not true. Bottom line though is I may not agree with what you say but I'd defend with my life you're right to say it. My source is impeccable and anonymous......
ReplyDeleteNo problem ed , I don't believe they r that big for a second , also the decavalcantes were banned for making any members from New York years ago , I know joseph Miranda made a bunch of new guys but I would say the only numbe 40 tops with 3 captains
ReplyDeleteEd your right, the last 7 or 8 years the Jersey guys made a comeback in a big way
ReplyDeleteI know when I write these anonymously sourced stories the experts tend not to believe me. So I am following a new policy: I am trying to form a working relationship with someone at the FBI; henceforth (if the Feds ever return my call!) I am going to start using agents to confirm/deny news stories like this. I know your intentions are sincere. So from now on I am going to get confirmation for this stuff.... I tried calling years ago, got some great people on the phone who promised me the world -- and never delivered anything. But there may have been some turnover - it's worth a shot trying again. I would think with the huge reduction of FBI agents focused on New York's five families, this would essentially give the DeCavalcantes a greenlight. Just like what happened with the Calabrians -- they become a global crime organization because Rome was so focused on Sicily alone.
ReplyDeleteName the captains then all 7 of them , I bet u can't name 4 . Joey merlo is one , luis consalvo is the other , Gregory rago is due out of prison soon but he is a soldier
ReplyDeleteI have some names of capos, but don't want to publish them because they are not on the radar, if you get my drift....
ReplyDeleteNo Dom I'm not naming anyone but trust me pal there are guys in Jersey whos names not very many people know and as far as captains or acting captains I can easily think of 6 off the bat and they are making guys now and the NY families always had the final say
ReplyDeleteThat was my point, there are guys whos names the public would not know and they are below the radar
ReplyDeleteHey Dom no offense but that info about Joe Miranda making 12 guys is from wiki and its 10 years old. With the FBI drastically reducing it's efforts to fight organized crime what do you suppose has happened in the ensuing decade?
ReplyDeleteExactly, info from Wikipedia and internet searches and this guy thinks he has all the answers for every family in the American mafia. He posts from England. Dom, how exactly would you have any information other than what you read on the internet? All these guys on message boards and forums posting think they are experts and have all of the answers, I think it's hilarious. I don't know a thing about the DeCavalcante family and I don't pretend to, but these internet guys think what is published on the internet is gospel. I've seen him argue on other forums about many of the smaller families and he always thinks he is 100% correct with everything he says. I don't know if the Jersey family has 7 crews or 80 made guys or not, but why do you think it's so far fetched that they do?
ReplyDeleteMaybe they were banned from making members some years ago. You are from England, so how would you know if things have changed? You don't have inside information. Maybe the ban was lifted and they started to induct new guys and Majuri is replenishing the ranks with new blood. I guess because it wasn't reported in a newspaper or on the internet then it must not be true, right Dom?
ReplyDeleteWasn't Joseph Miranda sent by the New York family's to take control of the New Jersey rackets and rebuild the family?
ReplyDeleteI've been studying the American mafia for over 20 years I read a lot of FBI files and speak to a lot of people who r in the know , wot difference does it make where I'm From ?? None that's what , they might have rebuilded but to say they have 7 captains and 80 members is wide of the mark , they have operations in Elizabeth , toms river and Newark . They don't have 7 captains , they have 4 at the very most
ReplyDeleteThe Genovese , lucchese and gambino families have bigger operations in Jersey than the decavalcante family FACT , still waiting for someone to name the 7 captains , it won't happen though because u can't . Your from America surely u should know more than little old me from England
ReplyDeleteHow bout an LA family map
ReplyDeleteI don't get what Dom coming from England has got to with anything. The guy knows his stuff is very well researched on the subject and to be honest I don't think the DeCavalcantes would have had 80 made guys under Sam the Plumber at their peak
ReplyDeleteWhile your still waiting for him to name the 7 captains why don't you give us the name of 5 of the guys Joe Miranda made in that ceremony you mentioned. Since you know so much and these guys have been made for over 10 years shouldn't be to hard for you. I'm interested to know.
ReplyDeleteIf the gambino family had entire crews not known to anyone including the FBI (according to big Jaques falcone) and they are one of the biggest and most visible families out there......then the dacavalcante's can do the same.
ReplyDeleteUnder Sam I believe they had half that. Just wanna make clear if I do speak with the FBI I will ask how big they think the family is and who is running etc. I'm n poo t going to give them anything ... just wanna see if they'll say anything about what they think....
ReplyDeleteWanna restate this: Just wanna make clear if I do speak with the FBI I will ask how big they think the family is and who is running etc. I'm not going to give them anything ... just wanna see if they'll say anything about what they think....
ReplyDeleteI agree -- Dom is quite blunt in his remarks, as I noticed! LOL! I mean I wouldn't categorically state anything like that -- unless I had firsthand experience.... this sounds like something ongoing from the Bbs, where I don't venture....
ReplyDeleteHe had around 30, according to Sam The Plumber (Zeiger). Interestingly, it says he had several underbosses....
ReplyDeleteDon't mean any disrespect ed , everyone is entitled to there opinion and I stand by mine , I refuse to be attacked though by morons who say I don't know anything about the mob because I am from England , I've forgotten more than some of these people know . Have a great day
ReplyDeleteHard to believe they are about the same size as the colombos
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to believe because it's not true , I believe they have rebuilt and I believe they have inducted new members over the last 10 years . Wot I don't believe is that they now have 7 capos and have doubled in size
ReplyDeleteI agree Dom, I don't think there would be that many guys it's crazy to think at their highest operating level they never had that many guys. Until it's confirmed I wouldn't be arguing this rumor as fact.
ReplyDeleteYou can study all you want. I do the same thing, so I doubt that you know more than I, or that I know more than you. I don't follow all of the families, and I specifically have never followed NJ. In reality, I don't care. My point was that you you can READ ALL OF THE INFORMATION that you want on the internet, but you have ABSOLUTELY NO inside knowledge on ANY of the crime families in America. And there is nothing wrong with being from England, and you are entitled to your opinion and I'm not attacking that. I'm simply attacking the fact that you come at people with different opinions than yours who state they have an inside source, and try to discredit it as false because you didn't read it on the internet or on a message board. How the fuck would you know what the DeCavalcante's are doing on the street half a world away from you? I NEVER said that they have 80 made guys or 7 captains, but simply that I wouldn't be surprised if they did. They could have inducted guys that you (or I) have never heard of because like me, you HAVE NO inside information. If Ed decided to write an article about it and says he has a source, then I will trust him for now until other information comes out saying otherwise.
ReplyDeleteIf you knew how to read, you would see that I wrote "I don't know if they have 7 crews or 80 made guys or not", which means, that I don't know about the NJ family. My point was HE HAS NO INSIDE INFORMATION being from England. Just because you read some FBI files and newspaper reports, your are not an expert nor are you in the position to try to discredit a writer and his article who says that he has an inside source who is "impeccable". I don't think Ed would have posted the article if he didn't believe in the story. I read FBI files and newspaper reports too, but I don't consider myself an expert or attack everyone who has a different opinion than me. Just got tired of this guy thinking he has all of the answers and that everything he posts is 100% fact. He reads Capeci and Burnstein and thinks he is a mafia insider now.
ReplyDeleteWho exactly do you speak to "in the know"? Hahaha. Pizza Boy? That's too funny.
ReplyDeleteYou know what you know by reading stories and reports in the internet. That is all. There is nothing wrong with that, I am fascinated with the stories as well so I do the same thing. But STOP trying to pass your opinions off as FACT, they are not. They are your opinions, and everyone is entitled to one. That is the only reason I came at you. You do have a lot of knowledge (from what you have read) and I am not discrediting that. You have no inside knowledge, so stop trying to discredit someone when they say they have a source on the street who told them something. The story may end up being false, or it may be true and maybe they did grow drastically in the last decade. I don't know the answer, but neither do you. Let's wait and let it play out. That's the point I was trying to make.
ReplyDeleteThey were temporarily banned from making new members by John Gotti. Now I don't know if they are as big as Ed says they are but I do know that there is absolutely no recent information out there that says they aren't. You would have to have an inside source to know something like this. Dom being that your in England it seems to me like you must rely on FBI documents and indictments of which there are none on this family that aren't over a decade old. Apparently you are up to date as of the Vinny Ocean case. Dom you named Joe Merlo a captain and Louie Eggs which is info that Scott Burnstein released a couple days ago. Since you speak to guys in the know why don't you name that mysterious third capo. Don't go fishing at real deal!!!
ReplyDeleteE.G. Any of you know who they are??
ReplyDeleteLike I gave a fuck wot u think , everyone has an opinion , u can all stick to yours and I will go with wot I believe to be true from wot I've been told , wen someone actually names the 7 captains and sources and bald up this story with facts then I may believe wot is being said until then it's just a story that anyone could make up
ReplyDeleteBlock me then , like I care about your opinion
ReplyDeleteFair comment Teflon , like I said everyone has there opinion and u have the right to yours , all I was saying was I think 7 captains and 80 made guys is wide of the mark , I'm skeptical because nobody is naming the capos or backing up the story with facts . Anyone can say I have a source so it's true . There have been a couple of stories on here that havnt been true , the frank Cali boss one the George borgesi boss one and adding 10 years to dominic cefalu's age . Someone's sources seem to be dodgy , so forgive me for being skeptical
ReplyDeleteThe FBI cut its resources in half dedicated to the five families; that means they haven't even been thinking about the Decavs. Vinny Ocean was the last significant bust that destroyed that family. It's how many years since Vinny Ocean? If I'm trying to get the FBI to respond to the info I have, where can you deduce I got it from. Who is my source? I'm the only one who knows other than of course the source. How many thought I was wrong about Christy Tick? Punchy Illiano? Joe Colombo Jr.? I've written a few stories before Capeci, before the Post. I'm a professional journalist. Maybe I'm not a mob scholar. I don't claim to know the names of every mobster in America. I do know how to quantify a source and do research to see if the context supports information or not. You have to have BALLS to break news. I'm writing the story. If history tells us anything it's that the mob resurges whenever the feds take their eye off it. As for Colombos, they were close to being shelved, the whole family was gonna be gone. That's been reported. In a book.
ReplyDeleteThe first person I saw who broke this story was barzini over at real deal
ReplyDeleteI'll wager most of my readers don't know what it is. Barzini is a fake name on a bulletin board that requires registration; yes, David kindly provided me with a username and I do visit on occasion but I never saw this information. He obviously must know what he's talking about but he didn't publicly disseminate the story. Ed Scarpo is a pseudonym, yes, but it's easy enough to find out my name and I'm taking responsibility for the story. There's a difference.... can you copy and paste me what he wrote in an email? I'm curious ....
ReplyDeleteNot sure what we're referring to here...
ReplyDeleteyou must care, you replied twice already . Dom youre a twit and putting far to much time and effort into this . Stop making dumb threads on BB that youre using just to vent about what Ed said over here, you childish nitwit and get over it .
ReplyDeleteAnd anyone who thinks they know EVERY capo of EVERY crime family is only fooling themselves. Jack Falcone discovered Gambino crews and his own superiors didn't believe him. He also learned who was really running the family versus who the FBI thought was running the family.
ReplyDeleteGo on real deal , barzini wrote a thread in January this year stating wot you r saying
ReplyDeleteAt what point did Dom state he was an "expert" on the subject? And I can read perfectly well thanks , who's the impeccable source that Ed has as no offence to him but it wouldn't be the first time he has been wrong and "revised" an article. Basically what you are saying is that Ed's info is flawless which history proves it is not. But even an amateur investigator on the mafia would know that its highly unlikely that the DeCavalcante's have around 80 members. For what reason would they be prospering when every other family is declining? They have to compete with the most powerful mafia family's in America on their own turf! I didn't see any evidence being provided to back up the story and its not the first time that has happened over here on Cosa Nostra News. Ed's a great guy and I like most of his work but that's also just my opinion on this particular story. If you don't like it i'm sure you can think up more pathetic insults such as my apparent lack of ability to read!
ReplyDeleteAnd still after all the insults we r no nearer to finding out the ammount of made guys or the 7 captains . But your spot on Ste , they have never been that big anyway and have always been smaller than the genovese , lucchese and Philly mob in Jersey , but all of a sudden during the recession they r prospering and making new guys by the bucket load . I won't be commenting here again , to many morons for my liking , let me know wen u get answers pal , or I will just ask barzini over at real deal , he posted this in January under the title decavalcante split
ReplyDeleteWith the amount of guys imprisoned in the early 2000s they would have had to have made around 45 guys in the last ten years. Somehow I think New York would have something to say about that. Like every other mob family in America they in fact appear too be declining and until I am shown more concrete evidence I will continue to believe there are at most 30 members with perhaps two capo's operating. There has been no extra evidence to show that they have been expanding. That's all we can go on pal. A 200 word article stating what to me looks like an opinion without any solid evidence is not going to sway my view on the subject.
ReplyDeleteWhat would have happened to the members of the Colombo family if they were shelved? Everyone moved to different families?
ReplyDeleteOkay, I've got a headache. I come on my own blog and I have a headache. I'd love to be face to face with some of you mothetfuckers... and there won't be any talking either.
ReplyDeleteThere has and always will be heavy mob activity in NJ. What part the DeCavs play in that role I'm not sure. I think the Genovese family has always dominated in that state. They have a huge amount of, believe it or not, legit business going on there.
ReplyDeleteOne of the older books, I think by Ralph Salerno, actually says there were four families in New York and one, the Genovese family, in New Jersey.
ReplyDeletePeople actually have sent me stuff written by Pizza Boy... he doesn't like Dom, but likes me even less. Me and Dom are losing sleep over this--not!! Anyone can anonymously say anything on a BB. They say I do! Someone said that about the ebook excerpt and another guy left a comment confirming our Urso excerpt. What's funny is I know who the guy is; a member of the Bonanno family.... no one else would know because he doesn't underline this.
ReplyDeleteWaterbury ct also
ReplyDeleteWell here it is not even a half a year later and the "shot caller" is finished. Him and about 10 members got arrested and the Decavalcante captain Charles Stengo got a conspiracy charge to commit murder along with his son. They were hiring someone from a biker gang to do it. They got him talking on the phone to to cops who infiltrated him.. Sometimes I think the Bloods and Crips are smarter then these dudes.
