Corleonesi Not Guilty of Killing Dr for "Unnecessary" Amputation
GazzettaDelSud reports today: "A Palermo appeals court acquitted Cosa Nostra Mafia gangster Antonino Madonia of murder charges in the 1981 death of a doctor. Prosecutor Vittorio Teresi had requested a life sentence for Madonia for the November 6, 1981 assassination of Sebastiano Bosio, chief of vascular surgery at Palermo's Civic Hospital.
Antonino Madonia is the oldest son of convicted Cosa Nostra crime boss Francesco Madonia, who investigators believe was a major ally of the Corleonesi clan and once ruled over the Resuttana neighborhood of Palermo. Investigators also believe Antonino served on a team of hitmen assembled by the Corleonesi's ruthless, powerful top boss in the 1980s, Toto' Riina.
Prosecutor Teresi in his indictment cited a long list of "penitent" law informants who had fingered Madonia as Bosio's murderer. One witness alleged Bosio was killed for opposing public bid candidates supported by Salvatore Lima, a politician assassinated in 1992 accused of mafia links.
"All mafia in the area was interested in bids both for construction and the supply of medical machinery and tools," said businessman turned mafia informant Massimo Ciancimino, who claimed to learn the motive for the crime from his father. Other witnesses claimed Bosio was killed for poor medical treatment to a mafia gangster who suffered a gunshot wound to the foot.
"It was amputated. According to the mafiosi, there was no need to amputate it," said law informer Francesco Di Carlo. "The doctor did it because he was against Cosa Nostra," Di Carlo added.
The trial against Madonia for Bosio's murder began in 2011 after investigators found through a forensic examination that the bullets that killed Bosio were fired from a gun consistent with the 38 caliber pistol used seven months later to kill two mechanics - a double murder for which Madonia was convicted.

ReplyDeleteFirst of all, any perceptive individual can see through Sharpton as an opportunist at the very least, and a criminal at worst. The man has always used the race card in virtually ANY circumstance to "get out of jail" or at least out of the holes he frequently dug for himself such as the Tawana Brawley case. His timing was perfect - the establishment of a politically correct line that could not be crossed has protected this piece of trash from even decent blacks like Roy Innis (CORE) who saw through him right away. I had Innis in my office years ago and the mere mention of Sharpton was an embarrassment to everything Innis has worked for. Second, the liaison that had been created using Sharpton was brilliant due to the teflon that was built up around any black "leader" or loudmouth (Jesse Jackson in particular) who was openly and routinely shaking down corporations for money most of which ended up in Jackson's pocket. Third, the real "class act" in this whole deal was always the younger college prep Michael Franzese, who actually has a good head on his shoulders along with a pleasant demeanor - something that goes a very long way in a world where "deez, dems, and doze" types are a dime a dozen. From my own experience growing up, being popular with street guys was very easy if you were educated, well-spoken and at the same time still considered 'one of the boys'. There was great value where Michael is concerned because he had respect for not only for being Sonny's offspring, but a guy who could actually speak like an executive - a rare and valuable commodity in that world. Even gangsters were taught to respect education because it opened doors. Even many of the cops appeared like street punks in comparison to Michael's expanded vocabulary and conservative appearance. Sharpton in contrast could not shake his ignorance and street persona. But his persistence and shield provided by the race-card has been enough to cover his treachery and misdeeds. Al Sharpton could be seen as a loudmouth, a liar, a rabble rouser, con man, instigator, opportunist and racist - but never a willing associate of the Columbo crime family - never a gangster. What a terrific cover! And he is still operating with impunity, posing as a defender of the poor black folk' who get taken advantage of by a system controlled by white racists. Welcome to fantasyland.
